Life Lately: Building While Becoming

Jul 20
3 min read

A funny thing happens when you stop waiting for life to settle down before you start creating.

You realize it never was going to.

The last few months have been busy, exciting, disappointing, inspiring, heartbreaking, motivating, exhausting…sometimes all before lunch.

And strangely enough, that’s exactly where this book has been born.

I’ve spent years learning, reading, going to therapy, journaling, lifting weights, making mistakes, rebuilding confidence, and trying to understand why some people grow through hardship while others get trapped by it.

For a long time I thought I was collecting random experiences.

Now I realize I’ve been collecting chapters.

The Book

The biggest project on my desk right now is a book I’ve been calling The Process of Becoming.

I don’t know if that will be the final title.

Maybe it changes.

Maybe it doesn’t.

But the idea behind it won’t.

This isn’t a memoir in the traditional sense.

It’s part story.

Part journal.

Part conversation.

Part sketchbook.

It’s about learning to trust yourself after you’ve spent years doubting your own voice.

It’s about becoming the person you needed years ago.

Some chapters will tell stories.

Some will include journal entries I wrote in the middle of the hardest seasons of my life.

Some will explore ideas like trust, boundaries, identity, resilience, faith, and the quiet ways we slowly lose ourselves…and hopefully find ourselves again.

I don’t want readers to simply finish the book.

I want them to feel seen by it.

The Workbook

Something unexpected happened while I was writing.

I realized people don’t just want inspiration.

They need somewhere to practice.

So alongside the book, I’ve started creating a companion workbook.

Right now I’m actually testing it on myself.

Each week includes space to slow down.

To write.

To pray.

To notice patterns.

To celebrate progress.

To wrestle with difficult questions.

To care for both body and soul.

It’s becoming less of a workbook and more of a companion.

Something you can return to week after week while you’re building a different kind of life.

Ironically, I’m walking through it at the exact same time I’m writing it.

Maybe that’s the only way I could have written it honestly.

My Mindset Right Now

Life has a way of clearing the table for you.

Sometimes voluntarily.

Sometimes not.

Recently I’ve found myself entering one of those seasons.

One where some chapters are ending while entirely new ones are beginning.

It’s bittersweet.

But underneath the sadness is something unexpected.

Peace.

Not because everything is figured out.

Because I finally believe my future isn’t something I have to chase.

It’s something I get to build.

I’m choosing to invest in my relationship with God.

I’m choosing healthier boundaries.

I’m choosing work that feels meaningful.

I’m choosing creativity over perfection.

Progress over performance.

Growth over comfort.

There are still days I don’t know exactly what comes next.

But I trust the direction more than I trust certainty.

And honestly…

That feels like freedom.

What’s Next

Over the next several months you’ll probably see pieces of this process show up here.

Storyboards.

Illustrations.

Journal pages.

Lessons I’m learning in real time.

Sneak peeks from the book.

Updates from the workbook.

Maybe even a few moments where I admit I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing.

Because that’s part of becoming too.

Thank you for being here while this grows.

I have a feeling the best chapters haven’t been written yet.
